Salomon Simhon

Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. Son of art dealer Eleonora Perea and well known magician illusionist Jose Simhon. Salomon grew up in the art and entertainment world. His first approach to film was in high-school. For his graduation project he created his first short film “Who Am I” and had all his family perform in it. In 2002 he started college at Universidad de Los Andes. He completed his first semester of Philosophy but eventually dropped out to pursue his devotion for film.

He started film school at Black Maria, where he directed two short films, “Faith” and “Sinfónica”. In 2004 he moved to Sydney, Australia to continue with his studies at the Academy of Photogenic Arts Film School.
He directed “Smile” that was nominated for Best Drama Short at the L.A Short Film Festival taken place at the legendary Egyptian Theater.

He came back to Bogotá in 2006 and started working as a Director for production company Direktor Films. He directed music videos and commercials for brands like Toyota, Pepsi, Axe, Renault, Unilever, among others. His work was recognized with various awards in the industry. In 2011 he got hired by production company Ennova to direct advertising spots in Beijing, China. In 2012 Salomon traveled to Mexico City.

He got hired by the production company Mr. Woo Films. After two years Salomon decided to go back home to open the first Independent Cinema called Cine Tonalá. A cultural space where film and art intertwine. Simultaneously, he was commissioned by Dynamo Productions to direct the feature film, “Detective Marañón”. Later on he got represented by the USA based production company Wildhouse Pictures. 

He has worked with top league artists like; Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Shaggy, Karol G, Sech, Chocquibtown, and many others. Salomon became known for his aesthetics and unique storytelling. He won Best Music Video Award two years in a row at Los Premios Shock. In 2020 Salomon directed his first TV Series “MALAYERBA” for USA platforms Pantaya and Starz. Currently he is developing two feature films, “Lourdes” and “Paranoia”.
