Zen Zekizawa

Zen Sekizawa has been working as director, photographer and artist for over 20 years in her hometown of Los Angeles, CA. She is a second-generation Angeleno and fourth generation Japanese American.

Since earning her BFA in Photography from Art Center College of Design, Zen’s practice has grown into exploring, critiquing and acting on the intersection of art, politics and community care. Zen has developed an extensive roster of art, fashion and commercial clients including Apple, Jimmy Choo, Jaguar, Sonos, and Google.

Her films have been shown in galleries and institutions across the country such as Subliminal Projects and The Dunedin Fine Art Center and have been recognized by coveted fashion establishments such as Nowness and ASVOFF. Finally, she has just begun work on a feature length documentary on the subject of The Atomic Cafe, her family’s legendary punk rock institution.
